A monumental federal carved tiger maple and mahogany chest c.1820. This chest exhibits a beautiful scrolled backsplash with carving and original gallery retaining an original surface. The multi-faceted drawer configuration is a Tour de Force of bottle drawers, silverware drawers and original tambour, flanking all are two reeded columns with carved motifs. The legs are turned in a Sheraton style. This is a unique piece and probably is New Hampshire, secondary wood is poplar.
The tambour has its original canvas backing, which is easily repairable.
