What you see here is a delightful example of 19th century Italian engineering. What on initial appearance is a desk with little knee-room soon reveals itself to be much more than that. The top slides back to reveal a leathered writing surface that itself can be slid forward, offering plenty of knee room as well as a generous work space. Additionally, this writing board can be slid back beneath the top to reveal a well with three large compartments.
