This 19th Century French mahogany commode in classic style has the brass mounts one would expect of such a fine piece. Where it deviates from the norm is in the addition of a pull-out brush slide above the top drawer, effectively turning it into an ersatz desk with a leathered writing area.
With its fluted column stiles, tapered spade feet and brass toe caps, it is every inch the French commode it portends to be, only on a slightly smaller scale.
